FCI Recruitment: Posts, Eligibility and How to Apply Online
FCI recruitment is how the Food Corporation of India, called Bharatiya Khadya Nigam in Hindi, fills jobs in its offices and depots across the country. It hires for manager posts, assistant and engineer posts, stenographers and watchmen, each through its own notice.
This guide is written by people who follow these notices closely, but we are not FCI. We explain the usual pattern, show you where the real notice lives and help you check your age before you apply. Dates, vacancy numbers and fees change every cycle, so the current notification always has the final word.
Who FCI Recruitment Covers: Posts by Category
Food Corporation of India recruitment is split into categories. Each category has its own notice, its own eligibility and its own exam pattern. Knowing your category first saves a lot of confusion later.
| Category | Main posts | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|
| Category II | Managers in General, Depot, Movement, Accounts, Technical, Civil and Electrical Mechanical Engineering, Hindi; Assistant General Managers | FCI manager posts |
| Category III | Junior Engineer, Stenographer Grade II, Assistant Grade III in General, Accounts, Technical, Depot and Hindi, Typist where notified | Assistant Grade III guide |
| Category IV | Watchman, notified region by region | Watchman notices |
Category III posts draw the largest number of applicants because most of them need only a degree. Category IV notices come out region wise, so a watchman notice for one state does not cover another. When people search for an FCI vacancy, they usually mean one of these three groups.

Where the FCI Notification Appears
The FCI recruitment official website is the careers section of fci.gov.in. Each FCI recruitment notification is posted there first, with a link to the separate recruitment site that runs the online form for that cycle. Treat anything you see elsewhere as a copy until you match it with the notice on fci.gov.in.
- Open fci.gov.in and find the careers or recruitment section.
- Look for the notice that names your post and your zone or region.
- Download and read the full fci.gov.in recruitment notification, not just the short advertisement.
- Note the FCI recruitment apply date window, the FCI recruitment last date and the fee rules in your own notebook.
- Follow only the apply link given inside that notice.
Many readers search for www.fci.gov.in recruitment hoping for one fixed page. In practice the careers page changes with each cycle, so check it often when a notice is expected. The last date can be extended, and extensions are also posted on the same careers page.

FCI Recruitment Qualification and Age Limits
Qualifications depend on the post. Assistant Grade III needs a graduate degree, with a commerce degree for AG III Accounts and B.Sc. agriculture or listed science subjects for AG III Technical. Manager and engineer posts ask for degrees linked to their discipline. Watchman notices set a much lower school level.
Age is counted on a cut off date printed in the notice. In past notices most AG III posts allowed candidates up to 27 years and AG III Hindi up to 28. Reserved groups get extra years on top of the upper limit:
- SC and ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years, plus the category relaxation where the notice allows it
- Ex-servicemen and FCI employees: as per the rules stated in the notice
These are past patterns. The current notice may set different limits for different posts, so always read the age table for your exact post.

How to Use the Age Eligibility Checker
The checker below does the age sums for you, so you know quickly whether you can apply. It does not decide eligibility. The notice does.
- Enter your date of birth exactly as it appears on your Class 10 certificate.
- Enter the cut off date for age given in the notice.
- Enter the upper age limit for your post, for example 27 or 28 for Assistant Grade III posts in past notices.
- Choose your category: General, OBC, SC, ST or PwBD, and the PwBD category combination if it applies.
- Read the result. It shows your age on the cut off date and your upper limit after relaxation.
The tool adds 5 years for SC and ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for PwBD, plus the category years for a PwBD candidate where the notice allows it. If your age is just over the limit, read the notice again for ex-servicemen or departmental rules that may apply to you.

FCI Recruitment Apply Online: Step by Step
FCI recruitment online apply is done only through the link in the notice. There is no offline FCI application form for these posts in recent cycles. Keep your scanned uploads ready before you start, because the session can time out.
- Open the apply link from the notice and register with your name, mobile number and email.
- Note the registration number and password shown on screen. You need them to log in again.
- Fill in personal details, category, qualification and exam centre choices carefully.
- Upload your photo, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration in the sizes the notice gives.
- Preview the whole form and correct mistakes before final submission.
- Pay the fee online if your category has to pay, then submit.
- Save and print the final submitted form with the payment receipt.
Finish the FCI online apply process a few days before the last date. Servers slow down near the end and payment failures take time to settle.

Documents, Uploads and the Application Fee
Recent notices asked for four scanned items. The current notice decides the exact sizes, but this has been the pattern:
- Photo: a JPG file of 200 x 230 pixels, sized between 20 and 50 KB
- Signature: 140 x 60 pixels, sized between 10 and 20 KB, signed in black ink on plain white paper and never in capital letters
- Left thumb impression: 240 x 240 pixels, sized between 20 and 50 KB
- Handwritten declaration: 800 x 400 pixels, sized between 50 and 100 KB, written in English in your own hand
The declaration trips up many candidates. See our declaration format guide for how to write it and copy the wording your notice prints.
The fee depends on your category, and several groups have been exempt in past notices. We do not quote amounts because they change. Check the fee table in the notice and keep the payment receipt safe.

What Happens After You Apply
Selection depends on the post. For Assistant Grade III, past cycles used a two phase online exam with no interview, followed by document verification. Manager posts may add other stages the notice describes. Watchman notices are run by regions and can include a physical test.
- Prepare with the topics in our FCI syllabus page.
- Download your call letter when the FCI admit card is released.
- Check marks and lists on the FCI result page guidance.
Keep your registration number, password and printed form safe until joining. You will need them at every FCI exam stage and at document verification.
