FCI Manager Recruitment: Category II, AGM, JE and Steno Posts

FCI manager recruitment fills the officer level Category II posts in the Food Corporation of India, from Manager in General, Depot and Movement streams up to Assistant General Manager. These posts carry supervision of staff, depots and accounts, so the selection is tougher than for assistant posts.

The same cycle often brings notices for Junior Engineer and Stenographer Grade II, which are Category III posts but share the technical flavour. This page explains all of them in general terms. Exact vacancies, degrees and stages are always in the notice on fci.gov.in.

Posts Covered by FCI Manager Recruitment

FCI category 2 recruitment has many streams. Each one is a separate post with its own vacancy count and qualification.

PostCategoryTypical work
Manager (General)IIOffice administration and staff matters
Manager (Depot)IIRunning depots, stock and storage
Manager (Movement)IIPlanning grain movement by rail and road
Manager (Accounts)IIFinance, payments and audit support
Manager (Technical)IIGrain quality control
Manager (Civil, Electrical Mechanical Engineering)IIBuilding and maintaining storage and equipment
Manager (Hindi)IIOfficial language work
Assistant General ManagerIISenior streams as listed in the AGM notice
Junior Engineer, Stenographer Grade IIIIISite engineering; shorthand and typing support

Not every stream is notified in every cycle. A notice may cover only a few posts or only one zone.

FCI Manager Eligibility in General Terms

FCI manager eligibility depends on the stream. As a broad guide from past notices:

  • General and Depot: a degree with the minimum marks and any further qualification the notice sets.
  • Movement: graduation, with any extra condition the notice lists.
  • Accounts: a professional accounting or finance qualification of the kind listed in the notice.
  • Technical: a degree in agriculture or a related science or technology subject.
  • Engineering: a degree in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering as the post needs.
  • Hindi: language qualifications in Hindi and English, with translation experience where asked.

The FCI manager age limit is also set post by post, with the usual relaxation for reserved categories. Do not rely on old lists here. Open the eligibility annexure of the current notice and tick each condition.

AGM Posts and the FCI AGM Recruitment Notification

Assistant General Manager is the senior entry point in Category II. FCI AGM recruitment is notified stream by stream, and the list of streams changes between cycles. Expect stricter conditions on qualification and, for some streams, experience. The notice spells these out.

The FCI AGM recruitment notification can come out on its own or alongside the manager notice. Read it separately even if it looks similar, because degrees, experience and age limits for AGM differ from those for Manager.

FCI JE Recruitment and Stenographer Grade II

Junior Engineer

FCI JE recruitment is for Civil and Electrical Mechanical streams. JEs work on construction and upkeep of godowns, silos, weighbridges and other equipment. The notice states the degree or diploma accepted for each stream. See our godown guide for the kind of sites they look after.

Stenographer Grade II

FCI stenographer recruitment needs graduation plus shorthand and typing speed as fixed in the notice. Where the notice includes a skill test, it checks these speeds. Steno staff support senior officers with letters, notes and records.

Both are Category III posts, so their exam pattern is closer to the Assistant Grade III exam in style than to the manager test.

Exam Date, Admit Card and Selection Stages

The FCI manager exam date, the FCI AGM exam date and the FCI category 2 exam date are announced on fci.gov.in after the application window closes. Some readers search for the FCI grade 2 exam date; it is the same Category II schedule. We do not predict dates. Watch the careers page.

Selection for manager posts in past cycles used online test phases, followed by an interview or training where the notice says. AGM selection follows the same rule: the stages are whatever the AGM notice states. The notice lists the stages and how marks are combined.

How the Manager Exam Differs from AG III, and the Result

The manager test goes deeper into the stream subject. An Accounts manager is tested on accounting, a Movement manager on logistics related topics, and so on, as the notice sets. AG III candidates face more general papers. Manager selection can also add an interview, which AG III does not have.

The FCI manager result is posted on fci.gov.in in stages: the list after each phase, then the final list. The cut off and score card, if released, come through the same page. Our FCI result guide explains how to read these lists.
